When you go broke, and I mean REALLY broke, food is hard to come by.
You have to eat something but you only have a few dollars that have to last you a while.
You need FOOD, and don’t really have money to buy it.
What do you do?
Food #1 Rice
Food #2 Beans
Between these two you can get a week’s worth of food for about $7-$10
If the season’s right. Pumpkins are super cheap the day after Halloween.
If you have a little more money on hand.
Peanut butter and yogurt for milkshakes.
Let’s say you don’t even have a few dollars, lets say you’re so broke that you have to walk to wherever you want to go. Well if you’re reading this chances are you have access to the internet. That is a POWERFUL tool to make money. My advice is to start look up where your nearest scrap yard is (Yes right now!). Then look and ask around for metal that you can sell, you won’t get much but it will be a start. You take this small amount of money while you’re there and buy something which you know you can quickly resell elsewhere. If you can fix things I recommend small engines (push mower or side shaft engines), or if you’re allowed to test things and have electrical knowledge I would recommend looking for decent or easily fixable power tools. Both of these items are in a pile called “irony aluminum” Or “breakage”. That’s where the money is. If you don’t have these skills I would recommend buying something you can paint and resell.
Next get yourself an Ebay account and a Paypal account online. If you successfully fixed your small engine you can take it to a local lawnmower repair shop for some quick cash. (Assuming you can start it and prove it runs well.) If you failed to fix the engine, then look up the model number (usually on the pull string cover) and take your engine ALL the way apart. Photograph each piece and list it on Ebay as an auction and start your price equal to or slightly below the price+shipping that everyone else is selling it at. (Remember you need money FAST,don’t be greedy, fast nickles are better than slow dimes)
If you went for an electrical tool, just clean it up (and or fix it) and take it to a pawn shop first. (They WILL practically rob you blind, but you need money FAST.) If you can afford to wait a week its MUCH better to sell it on Ebay.
When you get your money, repeat with another item, and another, and another. Flea markets, yard sales, and estate sales are also good places to look for items to buy and resell. My philosophy is,”whatever you buy, find a way to make it pay for itself” Remember if you want it, then surely there is someone else in the world who wants it too.
